This year’s Great North Run saw over 80 enthusiastic runners go the extra mile for Daisy Chain, raising more than £29,000 for vital autism and neurodiversity services. With the largest team the charity has ever assembled, the event highlighted the community’s unwavering commitment to supporting autism every step of the way.

Daisy Chain partnered with Altrad who sponsored the event, allowing the charity to create special edition eco-friendly running shirts made from recycled plastic bottles. This collaboration highlights a shared commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. Without Altrad’s generous support, Daisy Chain would not have been able to maximise its fundraising efforts.

Karl Bramwell, Vice President of Onshore Services at Altrad, said;

“We are delighted to have the opportunity to extend our support for Daisy Chain. We have worked together for a number of years, and the invaluable expertise and support from Daisy Chain has empowered us to create a thriving relationship, offering employment for autistic and neurodivergent colleagues within our business. We are proud to have a diverse workforce, made up of hardworking individuals all with unique talents and skills.

Altrad has a heritage in sports sponsorship, with the core values of sports resonating deeply with Altrad’s values of Respect, Courage, Solidarity, Conviviality, and Humility. Sports have the power to unite communities, cultures, and fans alike. The Great North Run exemplifies these values in action, pushing personal limits, fostering community, and bringing people together to support a greater cause and make a positive impact.”

Daisy Chain also congratulated the dedicated group of runners who completed the half marathon, emphasising their significant contributions to the charity.

Cara Baumann, Corporate Partnership, Creative Design and Events Manager at Daisy Chain, remarked: “I am incredibly grateful to everyone who ran and supported Daisy Chain. It’s been amazing to see so many people sign up to support us and proudly wear our sustainable running shirts. A huge thank you to our event sponsor, Altrad, for their continued support of our core mission which is to support and empower autistic and neurodivergent individuals.”

Looking forward, Daisy Chain is excited to announce its ambitious goal to build on this year’s success by signing up over 100 runners for next year’s event. The charity encourages the community to join #TeamDaisyChain and contribute to their mission—registration for guaranteed entry in 2025 is available now for just £25!
