North East charity Daisy Chain is laying the tracks for its most exhilarating fundraiser yet: The Great Train Robbery Ball, a dazzling celebration of 200 years of passenger rail history, hosted at the newly refurbished Hopetown in Darlington on 4th July 2025.
With just a handful of tables remaining, 400 local business leaders are set to embark on a one-of-a-kind evening of mischief, mystery, and magnificent generosity – all in support of neurodivergent children, adults and families and sponsored by Darlington Building Society.
Hopetown, a Grade II listed Victorian station and crown jewel of Darlington’s rail heritage – will transform into the stage for this utterly unique themed extravaganza. But the adventure begins before arrival! Thanks to Northern Rail, lucky attendees will arrive in style via a heritage-inspired train journey, complete with surprises en route. Think playful heists, and a dash of vintage glamour – this is no ordinary commute.
Headline sponsor, Darlington Building Society is joined by Bondgate IT (Welcome Drinks Sponsor), SNE Care (Entertainment Sponsor), and Certas (Balloon Pop Sponsor), ensuring a night of champagne toasts, lively entertainment, and Daisy Chain’s infamous fundraising games.
Crafting this one-of-a-kind experience is Daisy Chain’s Senior Corporate Partnerships, Events and Design Manager, Cárá Baumann, a neurodivergent visionary whose innovative approach redefines inclusivity.
“As a neurodivergent woman, I see the world in vivid detail – patterns, textures, stories others might miss. Designing events like this isn’t just about logistics; it’s about creating spaces where difference is celebrated.
“We transformed a departure lounge into last year’s Getaway Ball, and now we have reimagined Hopetown’s historic walls for this railway adventure. It’s about proving that ‘unconventional’ can be extraordinary, turning bold ideas into reality, one unforgettable night at a time.”
“At Darlington Building Society, we are proud to support autistic and neurodivergent children, young people, adults and their families. Daisy Chain is leading visionary work in this area. As main sponsor of the Daisy Chain Ball for the past three years, we recognise this event is much more than a fundraiser. It is enabling the creation of positive change which will help make a difference to the lives of many families” says Louise Thorpe at Darlington Building Society. “And this year, it stands as a testament to Darlington’s pioneering spirit, past and present, driving meaningful change in the community.”
“Hosting Daisy Chain’s ball is a privilege,” says Mike Crawshaw Head of Culture at Darlington Borough Council. “This event breathes new life into our historic space while honouring Darlington’s rail legacy.”
With tables from just £850 selling fast, businesses are urged to secure their spot swiftly.
